Ville Platte man dies in motorcycle crash

A Ville Platte man was killed Sunday night when the three-wheel motorcycle he was riding left the road and hit a tree, State Police reported.

Terry Thrasher, 60, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene at La. 3187 in Evangeline Parish.

Thrasher was riding a 2001 Honda north on the highway near Red Lick Road at around 6:10 p.m. when he veered left, traveled off the road and into a tree, Trooper 1st Class Stephen Hammons said in a release.

Crash detectives continued Monday to investigate the accident, and have turned in toxicology samples to test if the rider was impaired when he crashed. Hammons said detectives did not immediately know why Thrasher veered off the road.

Lana Drive house fire ruled arson

Investigators believe two fires were set at the home, which was vacant, before neighbors called the Fire Department.
