88-year-old Breaux Bridge woman died in Friday crash 88-year-old Breaux Bridge woman died in Friday crash Advocate staff report Feb. 08, 2014 Comments An elderly Breaux Bridge woman died in a two-vehicle crash on La. 31 north of Breaux Bridge early Friday afternoon, State Police reported. At 12:15 p.m., Maryetta Wyche, 88, was driving a 2006 Pontiac north on the state highway when she collided with a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 73-year-old Ray Patin, also of Breaux Bridge. State Police said the two vehicles were heading toward one another and when they crossed the Interstate 10 overpass on La. 31, Wyche crossed the center line and struck Patin head-on, State Police reported. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. Wyche was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Martin Parish coroner. Patin sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital, State Police reported. It is unknown if impairment was a factor, State Police reported. Routine toxicology samples were obtained and will be submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
