OPELOUSAS — Opelousas police and agents with the U.S. Marshals Office late Monday arrested a man wanted in a Sunday shooting that left a 28-year-old man dead on Emma Street.
Diovanni LaFountain, 21, was booked into the St. Landry Parish Correctional Center just before midnight Monday on one count of second-degree murder, Opelousas Police Chief Perry Gallow said.
LaFountain, whose address is listed as 802 Beverly Road in Opelousas, is scheduled for a court appearance Wednesday morning.
LaFountain is accused of gunning down Jermaine Andrus in the 900 block of Emma Street on Sunday afternoon. Andrus was found lying in the street where he was pronounced dead.
Gallow said in an email the shooting occurred during a robbery.
“I want all to know that every case has a face,” Gallow said.
