Police seeking man who robbed Lafayette convenience store

Lafayette police are investigating a pair of back-to-back armed robberies Wednesday night and Thursday morning they say were likely committed by the same man.

The stores were robbed by a man armed with a handgun who covered his face with a white shirt, Cpl. Paul Mouton said in a release.

He was described as having a medium build and wearing a long-sleeved white shirt and a sleeveless jacket or vest when he made off with an uncounted amount of cash.

The first robbery occurred Wednesday at 11:50 p.m. at a store in the 2600 block of Kaliste Saloom Road. Just under an hour later, at 12:47 a.m., an armed man robbed a store in the 3400 block of West Pinhook Road, Mouton said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Lafayette police or Crime Stoppers at (337) 232-TIPS.
