LAFAYETTE — Lafayette police arrested a 14-year-old boy Monday suspected of stabbing a man who was arguing with the boy’s mother, officials said.
Cpl. Paul Mouton said the incident occurred at about 8 a.m. in the 100 block of Petunia Loop, according to a news release.
“According to investigators, the victim was involved in a disturbance with a female at the residence, when the 14-year-old son of the female intervened,” Mouton said.
“During the physical altercation, the juvenile stabbed the 39-year-old male in the chest with a kitchen knife,” Mouton said.
The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The suspect, whose name also was not released, is being held in Lafayette Parish juvenile detention facilities on one count of attempted second-degree murder.
The investigation is continuing , Mouton said.
