Christopher Legros, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Acadia Parish Coroner’s Office. A passenger who was wearing a seat belt, Mariah Davis, 19, of Jennings, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital, Trooper Stephen Hammons said in a news release Thursday. Investigators determined Legros was driving fast when the 2008 Chevrolet passenger car veered off the left side of the highway. The crash occurred on U.S. 90 west of La. 91, according to the release. Hammons said toxicology samples were sent to the State Police Crime Lab to determine if the driver was impaired in the crash, which remains under investigation.
