Watson man sentenced to 30 years for string of burglaries

A Watson man was sentenced Tuesday to 30 years in prison for burglarizing nearly two dozen homes in 2012, the District Attorney’s Office said Thursday.

Brian Emerson Fugler, 28, of Hess Road, Watson, pleaded guilty to 23 counts of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, the District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

Fugler and an accomplice, Rachel Nicholson, 29, were accused in the burglaries, the release says.

Nicholson, of Firewood Lane in Denham Springs, has already pleaded guilty to 22 counts of simple burglary and was sentenced July 15 to serve 25 years in prison.

At the time of the burglaries, Nicholson was on probation for a 29-year sentence and Fugler was on probation for a 36-year sentence, the District Attorney’s Office said. Each had their probation revoked and were ordered to serve their respective sentences.

Fugler pleaded guilty in 2010 to three counts of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, the District Attorney’s Office said. Nicholson pleaded guilty the same year to two counts of simple burglary and two counts of possession Schedule IV controlled dangerous substances.
