Arrest made in stabbing death

Family says victim doted on his mother

Baton Rouge police arrested a man late Saturday in the stabbing death of Cedric Hamilton, 57, who was found earlier that day lying on the kitchen floor of his Edwin Street home.

Corey Moore, 44, 2739 68th Ave., was booked into Parish Prison on a count of second-degree murder, police spokesman Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said.

Hamilton died about 3 a.m. Saturday at his home at 8853 Edwin St. after he was stabbed multiple times.

The victim had a group of people over at his house and got into an argument with one of the men, McKneely has said.

“They got into an argument, which led to a tussle, and the tussle ended up with him being stabbed,” he has said.

The suspect, identified by others at the house as the person who stabbed Hamilton, left the scene in a blue Dodge Challenger.

Moore’s bond is set at $200,000, booking records show.
