Ascension deputy fired, booked on indecent behavior, child porn counts Ascension deputy fired, booked on indecent behavior, child porn counts Advocate staff report Sept. 12, 2013 Comments An Ascension Parish sheriff’s deputy was arrested and fired Tuesday after deputies found alleged evidence he exchanged inappropriate pictures and text messages with a 15-year-old juvenile. Deputies booked Todd Tripp, 24, 921A W. Elren St., Gonzales, into the Ascension Parish Jail on counts of indecent behavior with juveniles and possession of child pornography, Ascension Parish Sheriff Jeff Wiley said. Tripp’s bond has not been set, Wiley said. The sheriff said he received a tip Tuesday morning about Tripp’s relationship with the teenager and acted quickly on the allegations. “I instructed detectives to make this case a top priority, and within hours they had run a search warrant at Tripp’s home, seized electronic devices, and brought him in for questioning,” Wiley said. Deputies learned Tripp met the juvenile at least once in Baton Rouge, Wiley said. Tripp was fired immediately after deputies found sufficient evidence to arrest him, Chief Deputy Tony Bacala said. Tripp had been employed by the Sheriff’s Office for 18 months, working mostly in the jail and was training to become a patrolman, Bacala said. The investigation is ongoing.
