Port Barre man killed Sunday on U.S. 190 Port Barre man killed Sunday on U.S. 190 | Acadiana bureau Sept. 15, 2013 Comments LAFAYETTE — A 24-year-old Port Barre man who had run out of gas on U.S. 190 early Sunday was struck and killed as he stood in the outside lane of the thoroughfare’s eastbound side, State Police reported. Josh Arnaud was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Landry Parish coroner, Trooper Stephen Hammons said in a news release. “Troopers indicated that Arnaud’s vehicle had run out of gas and he was standing partially in the road while speaking to passengers in his vehicle,” Hammons said. The accident occurred east of Port Barre at 4:08 a.m. The driver of the 1991 Dodge Dynasty that hit Arnaud, 56-year-old Elliott Lazard of Port Barre, was not injured. Hammons said toxicology samples were sent to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis in a case that remains under investigation.
