New Iberia girl dies in crash New Iberia girl dies in crash | Acadiana bureau Sept. 15, 2013 Comments LAFAYETTE — A 17-year-old New Iberia girl was killed in a weekend crash when she failed to stop her car at an intersection and was hit by a truck, State Police reported. Erin LaSalle was driving a 2003 Honda car east on La. 677 and turned left onto La. 344 without stopping, State Police Troop I reported in a news release. State Police said the accident occurred Saturday night, but did not state a time. LaSalle’s car was hit on the driver’s side door by a Ford F-250 truck driven by Jared St. Martin, 33, of Kaplan, who was southbound on La. 344. LaSalle, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by an official of the Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office. St. Martin was not injured. Toxicology samples were sent to the State Police Crime Lab in a case that remains under investigation, State Police said.
