Ponchatoula woman fatally struck on I-12 Ponchatoula woman fatally struck on I-12 Advocate staff report Sept. 12, 2013 Comments HAMMOND — A 27-year-old Ponchatoula woman was killed Saturday morning when a vehicle struck her as she walked across the westbound lanes of Interstate 12 about 2 miles west of the La. 445/Robert exit in Tangipahoa Parish, State Police reported. Crystal Joiner and her boyfriend, Tod Reddicks, 60, were driving east on I-12 about 9 a.m. when the two began arguing and Reddicks pulled over on the shoulder of the interstate, Trooper 1st Class Nick Manale said. Joiner stepped out of the car, crossed both the eastbound and westbound lanes of I-12 and then began walking along the westbound shoulder, with Reddicks following, when she abruptly stepped into the path of a westbound 2003 Chevrolet Tracker driven by Ethel LeBlanc, 60, of Bogalusa, Manale said. Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced Joiner, suspected of having been impaired, dead at the scene, Manale said. Toxicology tests are pending, Manale said. LeBlanc was not cited in the incident, Manale said.
