Mother arrested after children found alone
Baton Rouge police arrested a 21-year-old woman Sunday who allegedly left her four young children unattended at her house for several hours Saturday.
Police booked Terika Ratcliff, 607 Myrtle St., Baton Rouge, into Parish Prison with four counts of child desertion, prison records show.
The officer found the children, ages 2 months, 1, 3 and 4 years old, by themselves at the Myrtle Street address shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
Family members told police they last saw Ratcliff with the children at about 2 p.m., the affidavit says.
Ratcliff said she left the children in the care of a friend who was supposed to bring them to meet Ratcliff, but inexplicably left them unattended in the home, the affidavit says.
The officer stated in the affidavit that Ratcliff has been booked twice before with child desertion.
