Two firearms stolen from Hammond police vehicle

Two guns were stolen from a Hammond Police Department vehicle sometime between 10 p.m. Thursday and 6:30 a.m. Friday, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office said.

The police vehicle, a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe, was burglarized on La. 1054 in Kentwood, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Dawn Panepinto said in a news release.

The thieves took two firearms from the vehicle — a black Glock model 22 with a Hammond Police Department badge insignia etched into the top of the slide, and a black Remington 870 Police Magnum pump shotgun with a 14-inch barrel.

Evidence gathered from the scene is being processed, Panepinto said. No suspects have been named.
