BAKER — Fire investigators were called in to determine the cause of a fire that damaged a home Thursday night, a Fire Department spokesman said Friday.
Howard Ward said firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from a rear bedroom window of the residence at 315 Day Drive, where 10 people were living.
Firefighters working to put out the blaze also made a quick count of the occupants in the yard to be sure no one was trapped inside, Ward said.
The fire appeared to have begun in the attic near an old attic fan, but firefighters were unable to determine if the fan was in use, he said.
The American Red Cross was called to assist the occupants of the home, which had approximately $65,000 in damage, Ward said.
