Aug 21, 2013 09:01 Armed robber hits Gonzales daiquiri shop late Wednesday Armed robber hits Gonzales daiquiri shop late Wednesday Advocate staff report Aug. 21, 2013 Comments GONZALES — Police searched on Thursday for a man suspected of robbing a daiquiri shop at gunpoint while wearing a ski mask late Wednesday night. The man is accused of walking into New Orleans Daiquiri, 1006 North Airline Highway, shortly after 11:30 p.m., whipping out a black handgun and demanding money, said Sgt. Steven Nethken, a Gonzales Police Department spokesman. A bartender and at least one customer inside the store then handed an undisclosed amount of cash to the suspect, who fled the scene on foot through a back door of the building, Nethken said. The man, who police described as a slim-built, roughly 5-foot-7-inch white man in his mid-to-late 20s, was last seen wearing dark pants, tennis shoes, black gloves and a purple long-sleeved LSU hoodie, Nethken said. Investigators asked that anyone with any information to the identity of the robber or about the robbery to call Crime Stoppers or the Gonzales Police Department at (225) 647-9536.
