One dead in motorcycle crash in Livingston Parish One dead in motorcycle crash in Livingston Parish Florida Parishes bureau Aug. 13, 2013 Comments FRENCH SETTLEMENT — A 29-year-old St. Amant man riding a motorcycle died Friday morning in a two-vehicle collision on La. 22 south of La. 16 in Livingston Parish, a State Police spokesman said. Michael A. Skinner was riding a 2004 Yamaha motorcycle south on La. 22 about 10 a.m. when he attempted to pass a 2006 Saturn Vue trying to turn left off La. 22, Trooper 1st Class Jared Sandifer said in a news release. Skinner attempted his pass in a no-passing zone, Sandifer said. Skinner hit the driver’s side of the Saturn and was ejected from his motorcycle. Skinner was not wearing a helmet and died as a result of the crash. Troopers believe Skinner was impaired and have submitted a toxicology sample from him to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis, Sandifer said. The driver of the Saturn, Ashley Petho, 19, of Maurepas, was properly restrained and suffered only minor injuries in the crash, Sandifer said.
