BROUSSARD — A 71-year-old motorcyclist was killed on Youngsville Highway on Wednesday night when a driver made a left turn in front of him, Broussard police reported.
Roy Cooper, of Youngsville, died later from his injuries, Broussard Police Chief Brannon Decou said in a news release.
The accident happened when Cooper was riding his 2012 Harley Davidson south on Youngsville Highway, or La. 89, just before 8 p.m.
Decou said that Melissa Pellerin was driving north on La. 89 in her Chevrolet Malibu when she turned left at La Neuville Road in front of the southbound Cooper.
“She stated she never saw the motorcycle,” Decou said.
Cooper, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from his bike. Pellerin was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, Decou said.
Toxicology tests are pending, Decou said.
