Two men booked in Duson shooting

Lafayette Parish sheriff’s investigators arrested two Duson men for allegedly using a high-powered rifle in the July 23 shooting injury of a 34-year-old man.

Trey Prejean, 20, and Reginald Martin, 21, were booked Tuesday on counts of attempted second-degree murder, sheriff’s spokesman Capt. Kip Judice said in a news release.

The shooting occurred at 8:53 p.m. on Third Street in Duson. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a leg and his hip.

The victim told police a back-seat passenger in a passing vehicle got out and began firing a rifle at the victim, who was transported to a hospital, Judice said.

On Tuesday, the victim was in the hospital in stable condition. Judice said he is expected to make a full recovery.

Prejean and Martin remained in jail Tuesday in lieu of $125,000 bail each.
