Police seek man
who held up store

Police seek an armed robbery suspect who stole an undisclosed amount of money from the Dollar General store in the 4300 block of Moss Street at 9 p.m. Sunday.

The store clerk told police that the bandit walked into the store with a handgun and demanded money and then fled on foot, Lafayette Police Cpl. Paul Mouton said. The clerk was not injured.

The robber is described as a black male who is between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 9 inches tall. He wore a red baseball cap, sunglasses, a dark-colored short-sleeve shirt, light-colored pants and white tennis shoes. A bandana covered the robber’s face.

Police ask that anyone with information about the robbery or the robber’s identity to call Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.

Suspect sought in
wounding of man

Police have issued an arrest warrant for Ladontray Chaisson, 19, for attempted second-degree murder in a Saturday afternoon shooting on Moss Street.

Chaisson is accused of shooting a victim in the leg Saturday after an argument near the intersection of Van Buren and Moss Streets. The victim fled after the argument and Chaisson allegedly followed in a four-door, green vehicle and fired shots at the victim’s vehicle. One of the shots hit the victim in the leg. The victim, whose name was not released by police, was treated at a local hospital and is in stable condition.

Police ask that anyone with information about Chaisson’s whereabouts call Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
