Baton Rouge woman arrested in fatal hit-and-run case

Baton Rouge police on Saturday arrested a 30-year-old woman accused of fleeing the scene of a Thursday night fatal hit-and-run incident on Old Hammond Highway.

Chasitie Adams, 30, 1211 Deer Ridge Ave., Baton Rouge, was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on counts of felony hit-and-run, said Cpl. L’Jean McKneely, a police spokesman.

Around 10 p.m. Thursday, Sothy Lieu, 40, was crossing Old Hammond Highway on foot near Boulevard De Province when he was struck and killed by a westbound Volkswagen Jetta, McKneely said.

Police later found Adams’ Jetta abandoned in a parking lot near the 9200 block of Florida Boulevard, McKneely said.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
