LAFAYETTE — Lafayette police arrested a woman Tuesday after her 3-year-old son wandered two blocks from their home while she slept.
Chelsea Johns, 19, was booked on one count of second-offense child desertion and remained in jail Wednesday on $2,500 bail.
Cpl. Paul Mouton, Lafayette police spokesman, said Johns was arrested in 2012 for one count of child desertion.
Mouton said the boy was found at the home of a West Congress Street resident who called police at 10:35 a.m.
Mouton said Jones fell asleep inside her home and the boy wandered outside.
