Six arrested in Prairieville for heroin use, possession

Ascension Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested six people Tuesday accused of using and possessing heroin in the parking lot of a Prairieville business, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Sheriff’s detectives saw Kayley Hutchings, an employee of the business, with Tyler Matto and Jordan Collins sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot and saw Collins with heroin in his lap, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The release says detectives searched the car and found additional heroin, hypodermic needles and an Oxycodone pill.

Detectives learned that Collins gave heroin to Matto and Hutchings and the three admitted to using the drug in the parking lot of the business, the release says.

A spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office declined to identify the business.

Detectives later learned another man, John Kirk, was on his way to Ascension Parish to sell narcotics to Collins, Hutchings and Matto, the release says.

Detectives found Kirk’s vehicle in the parking lot on that same day and arrested him and two passengers, Tara Johnson and Terry Brown, the release says. Detectives found heroin in Brown’s possession, the release says.

Kirk and Johnson also brought an infant to the alleged drug deal, the release says.
