Police arrest man, 19, in armed robbery

Baton Rouge police arrested a 19-year-old man Wednesday accused in an armed robbery April 18 at a woman’s home on Bank Street.

Troy Bessard, 19, 5523 Prescott Road, Baton Rouge, was booked into Parish Prison on one count of armed robbery.

A woman was sitting in her home with her three children around 12:30 a.m. when Bessard knocked on the door, according to an affidavit warrant.

When the woman answered the door, Bessard asked to see her boyfriend, the warrant said.

The woman responded her boyfriend wasn’t home, at which point another person walked up and pulled a gun and both forced their way inside the woman’s home, the warrant said.

The other person held a gun to the woman’s head while Bessard took several electronic items and some cash from the home before fleeing, the warrant said.
