Deputies nab man
in attack on woman

Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a 19-year-old-man accused of breaking into his girlfriend’s apartment Tuesday and hitting her.

Joel Antoine Johnson, 985 Monet Drive, was booked Tuesday into Parish Prison with home invasion, domestic abuse battery and criminal damage to property.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Johnson knocked on the victim’s apartment door at 2 p.m. in Melrose East but she wouldn’t answer the door.

Johnson then kicked the door down and chased the victim to the bedroom where he hit her four times on the back of her head and neck, the affidavit says.

Johnson denied hitting the victim or kicking the door.

Baton Rouge police Tuesday arrested a Prairieville man accused of being one of the two men who robbed a man of about $300, a cellphone and two video game consoles March 11.

Police booked Jonas Reese Crystal, 36580 Swamp Road, into Parish Prison on one count of armed robbery, according to an affidavit warrant.

The victim invited Crystal and an unidentified man to his apartment and when they arrived at 8 p.m., the unidentified man pulled out a silver handgun and forced the victim back inside, the warrant says.

Crystal and the gunman alledgedly forced the victim into the bathroom and told him that if he came out of the bathroom, they would shoot him, the warrant says.

Authorities book
one on DWI count

Authorities arrested at least one person suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked him into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, booking records show.

Neal Corkern, 23, 26905 Gaylord Road, Walker, was booked on one count each of third-offense DWI, improper lane usage and equipment violation.
