Thibodaux man killed in St. James Parish collision Thibodaux man killed in St. James Parish collision Advocate staff report| April 01, 2013 Comments VACHERIE — A driver who crossed the La. 20 center line in St. James Parish was killed Thursday afternoon when his 2007 Ford Ranger collided head-on with an approaching 2013 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, State Police reported. The 3:30 p.m. crash involved pickups driven by Tommy Thibodaux, 24, of Thibodaux, and Gerald Torres, 61, of Vacherie, Trooper 1st Class Evan Harrell said in a news release. Thibodaux, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead by the St. James Parish Coroner’s Office, Harrell said. Torres, who was using his seat belt, was taken to University Hospital in New Orleans for treatment of moderate injuries, Harrell said. Alcohol was not considered a factor in the crash, but toxicology samples will be tested in the State Crime Lab, Harrell said. The wreck remains under investigation, Harrell said.
