Trooper First Class Jared Sandifer said Lionel Terrell, 55, was not using a seat belt when his 1998 Honda Civic ran off La. 67 north of Clinton shortly before 1:30 p.m. After leaving the road south of La. 432, Terrell’s car went into a ditch and struck the trees, Sandifer said. Sandifer said investigating troopers did not know if Terrell was driving while impaired, but a toxicology sample was submitted to the State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Terrell was the brother of East Feliciana Parish School Board member Richard Terrell, who represents the Clinton area. Maj. Bob King, of the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office, said the victim worked in the meat department of Trabona’s IGA in Clinton and may have been going home for lunch.
