Sweep for sex offenders yields arrest in Assumption Sweep for sex offenders yields arrest in Assumption River Parishes bureau Feb. 27, 2013 Comments A sweep of registered sex offenders in Assumption Parish earlier this week led to a drug and weapons arrest. Michael Field Jr., 26, of 437 Belle River Road, Pierre Part, was arrested Wednesday during a visit by Assumption Parish sheriff’s deputies and Louisiana Probation & Parole agents, Sheriff Mike Waguespack said Thursday in a news release. Authorities found Field to be in possession of a firearm, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, the release said. He was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, fourth-offense marijuana possession and third-offense drug paraphernalia possession. Field, one of 28 registered sex offenders residing in Assumption Parish, is registered in connection with a 2008 conviction for indecent behavior with juveniles, Waguespack said. During the sweep, authorities also learned one of the 28 sex offenders had moved to Iberia Parish in November without properly notifying law enforcement agencies in either jurisdiction, the sheriff said. That matter is being investigated, and Wagues-pack said period checks of sex offenders would continue.
