Hit-and-run driver sought in Baton Rouge pedestrian death

Troopers searched on Saturday for a vehicle involved in the hit-and-run death of a 19-year-old Baker man about 3 a.m. Monday on Burbank Drive near Staring Lane in Baton Rouge, a State Police spokesman said.

Tyrone Davis was walking on Burbank Drive when a westbound vehicle struck and fatally injured him, Trooper 1st Class Jared Sandifer said.

The driver failed to stop and continued west on Burbank Drive, Sandifer said.

Based on its investigation and evidence left at the scene, troopers were looking for a 1980 to 1986 full-size Ford pickup truck or Bronco that may have been repainted an aqua-blue or teal color. The vehicle would have damage to the passenger-side headlight and grill area, Sandifer said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call State Police at (225) 754-8500 or the nearest law enforcement agency.

Note: Do not try crossing Airline Hwy at 12:30am. Do not walk along Burbank at 3:00am. Just be in bed at those times.
