Work-release escapee caught in Denham Springs

A state prison inmate who escaped from a work-release job site Monday was captured Thursday in Denham Springs, a spokesman for East Feliciana Parish Sheriff Talmadge Bunch said.

The U.S. Marshals Service fugitive task force arrested Glen R. Carroll III, 21, and his girlfriend, Kristina Miller, about 6 a.m. at the Village Inn Motel on U.S. 190, sheriff’s Detective Don McKey said.

East Feliciana Parish sheriff’s deputies later booked Carroll in Clinton on a felony count of simple escape. Miller, 20, of Denham Springs, was booked with principal to simple escape.

McKey said Miller admitted picking up Carroll from his work site at a sawmill near Amite about noon on Monday and driving him to Livingston Parish.

Carroll was serving a two-year sentence for aggravated second-degree battery and was eligible for release in January 2014. He was eligible for a work-release program when he was transferred to the East Feliciana Parish Jail several weeks ago, Chief Deputy Cliff Hurst said earlier this week.
