Deputies say Donaldsonville man attacked girlfriend

Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office authorities searched on Tuesday for a Donaldsonville man wanted for allegedly attacking his girlfriend.

Romel Julien, 27, of 123 Palm Drive, Donaldsonville, was being sought after his girlfriend reported an altercation involving Julien on Saturday, Tony Bacala, chief deputy with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, said in a news release.

Julien, who is also known by the alias Romel Harvey, allegedly attacked his girlfriend at her residence. After the altercation moved outside, she was able to escape and call 911, Bacala said.

When Julien found out that the Sheriff’s Office had been notified, he went into his trunk and pulled out an AK-47 and ran into the woods to hide the gun, Bacala said. Julien returned empty handed, and fled the scene in a green old- model Oldsmobile Delta 88 prior to deputies’ arrival.

Deputies arrived and located the AK-47 in a nearby neighbor’s shed, but they still were seeking Julien, who is a convicted felon on parole and has a criminal history of violence, drugs and theft, Bacala said.

Anyone with information about Julien’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office at (225) 621-INFO (4636) or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-STOP (7867).

Ah another fine member of society. A convicted felon with an AK 47 attacking a women. I hope when they find him they put him away so long he forgets what a gun is. This is a perfect example of the plague that is dragging down society within the US. The bigger problem is that the governments war on drugs, crime, illegal guns and illegal imagrants has never worked. Prison rehabilitation programs dont work either. We are all swirling around the toilet and heading for the sewer. If they haven't figured out how to fix any of these problems by now, I am sure they never will.
