Cyclist dies in Ambassador Caffery crash Cyclist dies in Ambassador Caffery crash Acadiana bureau Jan. 24, 2013 Comments LAFAYETTE — A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday when he crashed into the rear of a pickup truck on Ambassador Caffery Parkway, police said. The victim’s name was withheld pending notification of next of kin, police said. The 24-year-old victim was riding south with another motorcyclist on an Ambassador Caffery overpass near Cameron Street “when they observed traffic at a stop on top of the overpass,” according to a news release from police. One rider was able to lay his motorcycle down before hitting the stopped traffic, but the second rider crashed into a Ford F-150 that was stopped at a traffic light, police said. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Police reported the lunch-hour crash just after noon Wednesday. The accident snarled traffic on Ambassador Caffery when police closed all lanes in a section of the thoroughfare near Interstate 10. Police reopened lanes at 2:09 p.m.
