4 arrested in Gonzales heroin distribution investigation

Sheriff’s detectives arrested four Ascension Parish residents following a week-long investigation into a heroin distribution ring, the Ascension Sheriff’s Office reported Friday.

Detectives who searched the Gonzales residence of Craig Encalade Jr. on Wednesday discovered heroin and marijuana that were packaged for sale, Maj. Kevin Hanna said in a news release. Detectives also seized prescription pills, a loaded handgun and drug paraphernalia.

Encalade, 27, of 2704 S. Remy Robert Road, was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on several counts of drug possession and distribution, as well as illegal carrying of a weapon.

Sheriff’s detectives also arrested Amy Hughes, 36, 7212 Ernest Floyd Road, and Teya Young, 23, 2704 S. Remy Robert Road, both of Gonzales; and Randall Millet, 25, 47868 Amite River Road, St. Amant.

Hughes, Young and Millet, who were in Encalade’s residence when detectives arrived, also were booked on drug possession and distribution counts. Millet faces prosecution on additional counts of illegal weapons possession and prior charges of theft of goods, careless operation and resisting an officer.

All four suspects remained in the parish jail Friday in lieu of bond, which was set at $160,342 for Encalade, $10,342 for Hughes, $26,118 for Young and $146,710 for Millet, according to the news release.

Anyone with information on illegal drug activity is asked to contact the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division at (225) 621-8350 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-STOP(7867).

CountryRacistsCanSurvive: You're a redneck white trash racist and an idiot, so there's no point in "arguing" with a sack of sh*t like you. And yes, you are an ignorant Lose-e-anna scumbag, born and bred, and it shows. As far as being able to "take it" goes, when you say something that I can't "take" then I'll be sure to let you know. In the meantime, just keep beating your wife and trying to make those payments on the double wide and the Ram Charger.

Dear Whatnow Please read all the comments, and then come back and tell me that they were nor directed at me. If you can't you must have struggled in your Reading Comprehension class. :)

2 gvm your wife is a wise person, listen to her. Here is what behooves me. The news paper prints an article, I comment on the article, in the way I feel about it. Then here comes you and your little klan, pardon the pun, and start attacking me personally, get it? personally. I didn't criticize you or your bunch, just the people in the article. When you do that I feel like I have to reply. Seems if you defended the people that I criticize you are one of them. My daddy raised me in that I should never punch someone in the nose but if someone punched me in the nose, I should strike back quickly, every time. Then this guy understands the idea that if he punches me he will get punched back, he needs to think Is this worth it or should I leave this guy alone? I really believe that this is what is wrong with our justice system. These thugs know that they may never get caught and if they do it will be years before trial and then they might get that "Slap On The Wrist" and let go. That is the solution to Baton Rouge's Crime Problem, the thugs need to know, if you commit a crime we are coming after you and in short order you will be punished. CBS 3: 57 Amen?

@CBCS: You may find this hard to believe but I am generally not as acerbic in tone as I was on yesterday. It's just that I find most of your posts to be irritating and insulting and felt the need, unwisely perhaps, to put you in your place - so to speak. It should never have gotten personal though, and for that I apologize. It was not a coincidence that as my wife and I were studying the book of James last night I was immediately struck by the text in James 3:13 which states: "Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him show out of a good conversation his works with meekness and wisdom." Or, put another way: "If a man is wise and understanding, he will demonstrate it by his conduct coupled with the humble spirit that comes from wisdom. The Lord Jesus, the embodiment of true wisdom, was not proud or arrogant; He was meek and lowly in heart. Therefore, all who are truly wise will have the hallmark of genuine humility." On yesterday I was anything but meek or humble. My wife has challenged me to be the bigger man and to be less prone to the use of harsh rejoinders. I accept her challenge; this is my last comment on this story.

Ya'll should change you log in names to Boo and Hoo. Here is the names you used today. ignorant, garden variety Louisiana dirt bags. Every parish has it's scum lengthy history of making racist comments People like you are not good for anything you deserve every bit of contempt that you get. your half-baked commentary your breathtaking ignorance stupid rants a ragtag bunch of old curmudgeons

7) Comment by CountryBoysCanSurvive - 20/01/2013

2 Bouncer & gvm The reason I didn't comment is that this arrest was made for a crime that happened in another parish and secondly it didn't involve murder. PS: Bouncer I am still here. Like they say on those telethons, ring them phones. Can't we just all get along?

8) Comment by Whatnow - 19/01/2013

twinkie1cat, "nice schools and pretty houses?" Do I sense jealousy? Do you think that we were given those things? Do you think we were born with silver spoons in our mouths? Why put down people who worked hard for their nice schools and pretty houses? Did you ever wonder why they have "nice schools and pretty houses?" A lot of those pretty houses are owned by black families from Baton Rouge. You are right about Sorrento, though. Their antics are an embarrassment to the rest of the parish. They should just hang it up and re-incorporate back to the parish.

I am so glad that I live in Ascension Parish. Our police are on the ball. Every parish has it's scum. Good job Ascension Sheriff’s Office on a great investigation! Strange bail figures though.

@CBCS: You can certainly dish it out....but you can't take it, can you? As expected, you whine if the tables are turned. GVM made a valid point, and I don't blame him/her for calling you out. You have a lengthy history of making racist comments on these news boards, such as comparing black people to chimpanzees, and so forth. Thus, you deserve every bit of contempt that you get. People like you are not good for anything except keeping old resentments and hostilities stirred up. Why don't you try ridding yourself of all of your bigotry and hatred, and try being a decent human being for a change?

11) Comment by gvm - 19/01/2013

@CBCS: Mudslinging? I simply asked why it is you have so much to say when the perpetrator is from North Baton Rouge and nothing at to say when the perp is from someplace else. It was you who introduced race into the discussion - in fact, that's all you ever do. I am not interested in getting your access to this board pulled as that might make you a martyr in the eyes of your fellow travelers. On the contrary, I'd rather expose your half-baked commentary and consummate hypocrisy. This I can't do unless I am able to avail myself of, and marvel at, your breathtaking ignorance from time to time.

12) Comment by CountryBoysCanSurvive - 19/01/2013

2 Bouncer look at who started the mudslinging gvm that's who. And so don't quiver in fear please those you you have gotten removed? @ gvm I guess you are one of those people who just makes folks laugh.

I wonder if that young doctor from Gonzales ever went to jail on those drug charges he was convicted of. What was his name? Was it Auzine? It would be nice if the news would do a follow up, maybe a jail house interview with him like they did with eddie edwards when he was in the joint doing hard time.

14) Comment by mh1949 - 19/01/2013

DMJ where are you ??? The word race has come up.

15) Comment by Bouncer - 19/01/2013

@GVM and twinkie: You should call The Advocate's office and report those guys. They will be banned from the site for violating the Terms of Use. Contrary to what they may believe, they cannot post inflammatory and racially-charged language and get away with it. And no, you are not infringing on their "right to free speech" by reporting them. All it takes is a few calls, and their accounts will be cancelled. I know because I have reported people in the past, and POOF! accounts have been eliminated. That's how you have to handle trolls. And that's all these guys are....trolls whose sole purpose is to cruise these boards looking to stir up trouble by planting their hateful comments.

16) Comment by ABayouBoy - 19/01/2013

No, its not ALL about minority crime here. I'm sure that those residents in Ascension parish are just as pe"od about the low bail for those whites as they would be for the blacks. They need to send the message loud and clear - we will not tolerate drugs of that kind in our neighborhoods. Heroin? Get outa town!!!. Straight to jail and they don't get out for a very long time.

17) Comment by twinkie1cat - 19/01/2013

As for the "chocolate" mayor in trouble. Yeah, I agree, Nagin was kind of dumb, but at least his crimes were white collar and didn't kill anybody. The City Council of Sorrento (Ascension) needs to be picked up for a reality show. The lily white Court Clerk in Baton Rouge (South of course, where they're too good to allow bus service or transportation to the hospital) they sold the drugs in the evidence room back to the drug dealers. And I wonder if Miss Gosserand is still going to her job peacefully with no evidence on her body that she killed a woman over in West Baton Rouge. And we won't even talk about Livingston Parish. Their new jail is so full of white boys and girls making meth that a guy from Denham had to come into town to find an old man to beat up and steal his TV. Nothing but stereotyping and racebaiting while 10 or so young men play basketball in the street in front of my house in North Baton Rouge, ages about 12-20 minding their own business, being respectful, and not doing a thing wrong. But y'all got to talk about the black folks like you are so superior. Yeah, where are you on this one????? Too ashamed of your own kind to post today?

18) Comment by twinkie1cat - 19/01/2013

Look y'all. 4 white folks in low crime Ascension Parish selling heroin. Heroin! But they always complain about crime in Baton Rouge and run to the safe (white) suburbs with their nice schools and pretty houses, while the black folks mostly get along with each other except for a few idiots.

19) Comment by gvm - 19/01/2013

@Bouncer: I have seen some comments from folks who are truly enlightened and forward thinking so I would never assume that everyone who posts here is a racist or a cretin. However, sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. These guys are used to being able to say what they want and never being challenged on it. I ignore the vast majority of their stupid rants, but there are times when the silliness of their arguments needs to be exposed. This is one of those times in my opinion. Thanks for the advice, though.

20) Comment by Bouncer - 19/01/2013

@GVM: Your points are valid and on target. The ones you mention, some more so than others, troll the board zeroing in on crime involving black people, and they routinely make race-baiting comments. What you have to realize is that those people are ignorant, garden variety Louisiana dirtbags. You simply cannot educate people like that or get them to step outside their own little provincial world view. The best thing you can do is avoid them as best you can. Believe it or not, all of us aren't racists and race baiting cretins.

21) Comment by gvm - 19/01/2013

@CBCS: You and the rest of your gang strike me as being a ragtag bunch of old curmudgeons who are preoccupied with race and have an affinity for race baiting. This is true, I think, because you guys are generally dissatisfied with your own lots in life and, rather than doing something about it, you pounce on what you perceive to be weaknesses in other groups. In a strange sort of way I actually pity you. It must be a terrible existence for one to be so bitter ALL of the time. Oh, and as for government officials with pockets full of stolen money, just look around, they are everywhere. I know this is going to shock you, but they aren't all "chocolate" either.

22) Comment by gvm - 19/01/2013

@CBCS: He who laughs last laughs longest. Remember that.

23) Comment by CountryBoysCanSurvive - 19/01/2013

Were still laughing at your Chocolate Mayor and his pockets full of stolen taxpayer money. That's were we are.

24) Comment by gvm - 18/01/2013

Where are all of the comments from the serial hecklers who seem to be so fascinated with crime stories - as long as they're in North Baton Rouge? Nimby, Tradewinns, Chucky, CBCS, Being_Stupid, et al - where y'all at?

25) Comment by Woody - 18/01/2013

not sure what is stranger...the way these four look, or the bail amounts set by the presiding authority.
