Fire crews responded to the blaze at 2475 Huron St. at 1:40 a.m. and had it under control by about 2:20 a.m., Fire Department spokesman Curt Monte said in a news release. The fire, which began in a hallway and extended into the attic, caused about $30,000 in damage, Monte said. Anyone with information about the fire is asked to call fire investigators at (225) 354-1419. Man booked in rape of woman on date Authorities on Tuesday arrested a Baton Rouge man accused of raping a woman he had taken on a date, according to an arrest warrant. Thaddeus A. Curtain, 40, 3145 Stevendale Road, was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count of forcible rape, booking records show. The 33-year-old victim told police she went to a bar with Curtain on Nov. 30, the warrant says. The woman said Curtain raped her after they stopped in the area of 5200 Longfellow Drive, the warrant says. Authorities book two on suspicion of DWI Authorities arrested at least two people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Monday and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, booking records show. Those booked and the counts against them: Kayla Andrews, 22, 3030 Congress St., Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, reckless operation and failure to maintain control.
