Deputies investigating fatal shooting in Sorrento
SORRENTO — Deputies have identified a man shot to death early Saturday on LV Road in Sorrento as a Baton Rouge resident, an Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman said.
Deputies said the victim of the shooting whose identity was verified through fingerprints was Gerald Wilkins, 41, 1123 N. Sabine Drive, Baton Rouge, Chief Deputy Tony Bacala reported.
The Sheriffs’ Office received a call at 7:53 a.m. about a man seen lying on the side of LV Road who appeared to have been shot, Bacala said in a news release.
Witnesses reported gunshots in the area between 3:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., Bacala said.
