Three booked in theft of medication

GEISMAR — Several anonymous tips helped Ascension Parish deputies arrest three people in the Dec. 5 theft of medication from a pharmaceutical trailer at the Walgreens Pharmacy in Geismar.

Ascension Parish Chief Criminal Deputy Tony Bacala said in a news release Friday that Charles “Dirty D” Savoy, 39, 39185 Wesley Powers Road, Prairieville, was arrested on Dec. 14 after sheriff’s deputies who searched his home found more than 1,000 stolen pills.

Savoy was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail on counts of simple burglary of pharmacy, felony theft, simple criminal damage to property and distribution of a Schedule II controlled substance, Bacala said in the news release.

Savoy’s bail was set at $80,292.

Authorities made two more arrests in the case after the raid on Savoy’s residence:

• Jonathon “Fatboy” Jouette, 26, 42028 Bayou Narcisse Road, Gonzales, arrested in Alabama on Dec. 15, was awaiting extradition to Ascension Parish to face prosecution in the Dec. 5 theft.
• Jody Ann Gautreau, 56, 41312 Cannon Road, Gonzales, was arrested Thursday and booked into the parish jail on counts of possession of marijuana, accessory after the fact to simple burglary of a pharmacy and possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II controlled substance, Bacala said. Gautreau was released on a $15,000 bond, he said.

Bacala said the investigation into the incident was proceeding and there could be more arrests.

A long life of crime that paid for such luxuries as a huge house at 36185 Wesley Powers Rd. by robbing and drugging others has now come to an end. I wonder how involved his wife was, as she is the assistant budgeting officer in the department of Finance with Baton Rouge City. Has she been stealing from the public coffers? Further investigation is warranted. Birds of a feather, fly together.

@CountryBoys: talking to yourself? I don't know if you're a racist. But I do think you're an idiot. Do you even know what the word "racist" means? Apparently not. For your enlightenment, a "racist" is someone who thinks that one race is superior to another one. Since I am white and am being critical of a certain complex set of behaviors and values that characterize a subset of the white race (white trash), then I can hardly be called a "racist" in that context. You arn't kidding....more white trash. Good thing the white trash levels are not any where near as high as "Black Trash" levels. That's a huge difference considering there are eight whites for every one black. Thank goodness there are huge cullture variations or we could never build enough jails.

Gee....I have a prescription for medication and can't get it from Walgreens. I didn't know it was as easy as breaking into a trailer to get them. Who puts medication in a storage container in south louisiana anyway? Do you know how hot it gets here? I'm never getting my medicine from Walgreens again. AND as a child of 2 pharmacists....PLEASE GO TO YOUR LOCALLY OWNED PHARMACY and keep the small businessman open!!!!! TY
