Pedestrian hit, killed on Highland Road ID’d

Police identified the pedestrian hit and killed on Highland Road on Sunday night as 75-year-old Mark Deshotels, 4508 Pine Park Drive, according to a Baton Rouge Police Department news release.

Deshotels was struck just after 8:30 p.m. by an SUV while he was trying to cross Highland Road in the 5700 block, according to the release.

Deshotels was transported by EMS to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

No charges against the driver are anticipated at this time.
