Donaldsonville teen dies in wreck Donaldsonville teen dies in wreck Advocate staff report Dec. 13, 2012 Comments A Donaldsonville man was fatally injured early Saturday when his car veered off a highway in St. James Parish and crashed into a utility pole, State Police said in a news release. Sidney L. Lomas, 19, died at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Gonzales from injuries he received in the wreck about 2:30 a.m., Trooper First Class Jared L. Sandifer said in the release. Lomas was driving a 1998 Saturn SC heading south on La. 44, north of La. 3214, when he failed to handle a right-hand curve, the release says. Lomas’ car crossed the northbound traffic lane, spun off the roadway and barrelled into the utility pole. Troopers suspect Lomas, who was wearing a seat belt, was speeding, Sandifer’s release says. They submitted a toxicology sample to the State Police Crime Lab to determine if Lomas was impaired.
