BR man shot Thursday near grocery store dies Friday

A man wounded by gunfire Thursday night while sitting in a car with four other people near a grocery store died in a hospital Friday morning, a Police Department spokesman said.

Eugene George, 31, 3335 Osceola St., was shot at 7:14 p.m. in the parking lot of Neighbors Food Mart, 2879 Dougherty Drive, police spokesman Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said in a news release.

George and a 31-year-old woman were hit by gunfire while in the vehicle with three other people, McKneely said. The woman received minor injuries, McKneely said.

Witnesses described the assailant, who ran from the scene, as a black man wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and khaki pants, McKneely said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Police Department Violent Crimes Unit at (225) 389-4869 or Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-STOP

Calm your blood pressure DMJ. The garbage i'm referring to are the ones with no job, no viable means of income, no schooling, no reason in the world to wake up every morning except to hit the pipe and sell drugs to our children. That being said, if you honestly believe this guy just 'happened' to be sitting in his car and get randomly shot, you are clueless as to what is going on in 70805. You probably think they were studying, don't you?

Anyone going to that entire area is taking a huge risk. It is sad what the city of Baton Rouge has become...

Garbage?? You don't know the circumstances of this shooting, yet you write them off as "garbage"?? Not everyone who gets shot deserves it, you creep. Not very Christian of you...

Everyone with all this negative feedback need to pray for his family. He was one of the good guys, wrong place wrong time. Stop talking about it and step up and do something about. His kids, parents, and other family members don't need to read you all ignorant comments. Grow up and find God in you life.

The only thing not funny is that the garbage isn't exterminating themselves fast enough, in my opinion.

it's not funny that almost everyday the Advocate has to print a story with a common theme , a similar set of circumstances .

If you're idea of a joke is making fun of an effort to reduce violence at the expense of murdered people, perhaps you should take a long hard look in the mirror, slap yourself, and try again at life. Just a thought.
