Police seek 2 men in attempted robbery

Baton Rouge police said they are looking for two men who tried to rob a fast food restaurant on Airline Highway early Monday at gunpoint.

Shortly after midnight, two men entered the Burger King at 6422 Airline by breaking the glass on the side of the building, police spokesman Cpl. Tommy Stubbs said.

One man pointed a gun at the employee and demanded to see a manager before fleeing toward a wooded area near the business, Stubbs said.

No one was hurt and no shots were fired, Stubbs said.

The robbers are described as two black men, both wearing black hooded sweatshirts, black pants and black bandanas , Stubbs said.

Ash embers ignite fire on Woodbrook

Fireplace ashes dumped into an outside trash can caused a house fire Monday on Woodbrook Drive, a Fire Department spokesman said.

Firefighters arrived at 3235 Woodbrook shortly after 3 p.m. and found the home’s carport on fire, spokesman Curt Monte said in a news release.

Firefighters contained the flames to the carport and the roof above, Monte said.

No vehicles were damaged.

The blaze was under control by 3:19 p.m., Monte said.

No one was injured, Monte said.
