Trooper First Class Nick Manale said in a news release that Leonard Green, 46, of Convent, was driving a 2008 Kia sedan north on La. 3125 near La. 642 around 2:30 a.m. while fighting with his front-seat passenger, Tracy Young, 43, of St. James. Young grabbed and jerked the steering wheel, which forced the car off the road and caused it to overturn several times, Manale said. Green was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. James Parish Coroner’s Office, Manale said. Young and the rear-seat passenger, Allen Jacque, 57, of Convent, suffered moderate to severe injuries and were hospitalized, Manale said. All three occupants are suspected of being impaired at the time of the crash, Manale said. The investigation is ongoing, but troopers expect to book Young later on criminal counts related to the wreck, Manale said.
