East Baton Rouge sheriff’s deputies on Thursday arrested two armed robbery suspects in the theft of an Apple computer, a cell phone and other items, affidavits say.

At 2:40 a.m. Thursday, two gunmen approached a 1994 Nissan Pathfinder outside Cypress Park Apartments, 10324 Celtic Drive, and tapped on the driver’s side window, affidavits say.

A third robber, who was in a maroon Toyota Camry nearby, walked up to the victim and took his wallet, as the victim stood outside while the others searched his vehicle, affidavits say.

At 11 a.m. Thursday, Baton Rouge police detectives, investigating unrelated burglaries, stopped a maroon Toyota Camry where they found Deonte Brumfield, 19, the stolen computer and two handguns.

The driver of the Camry, who was not identified and not arrested, said the property belonged to the car’s passenger, Brumfield, who was arrested, the affidavits say.

Jared Smart, 19, was arrested later that day and the owner of the Camry, who was not identified, said Smart had had the car since early Tuesday, affidavits say.

Detectives booked Brumfield, 16052 Derby Drive, Baton Rouge, on one count each of armed robbery, illegal use of a weapon, simple burglary and illegal possession of stolen things, and Smart, 9115 Avis Ave., Baton Rouge, on one count each of armed robbery and illegal possession of stolen things.

The law is very clear about how old you have to be if you are inside of an establishment that serves alcohol. Stop acting as if these people were walking down the street minding their own business when the cops busted them for having no ID. You people are the same ones that would complain about the cops NOT doing their job keeping underage people from drinking and driving if one of these 17 year old drunks were to leave there and kill someone on the hwy. Make up your mind which group to hate on and stick with it

@tradewinns- Thanks,i agree and did not think you needed ID when walking...still confused as to why The Advocate would report it this way, will call Monday.

I agree, the invasion of this filth into South BR makes me sick. And all these BRAVE efforts do nothing but further flush the criminals out of 70805 and into the rest of our neighborhoods (like shining a light on cockroaches). I think a better plan would to surrender North BR and send all those officers down here to protect the rest of us. We obviously can't eliminate the plague, but we can at least try to quarantine it.

the only reason you can be arrested concerning ID is if you give false information to an officer. our judicial (justice) system is a joke. unfortunatly the joke is on the taxpayers. it is simply a money making machine for lawyers. truth doesn't count, it is the very first thing that disappears. we need to start over and make truth the only thing that counts.

Why wasn't the driver of the maroon Camry arrested? The article states that it was the driver of the Camry got out and took the mans wallet, I'm so sick of these thugs coming my side of town to rob hard working people stay in your own side of town and rob the drug dealers and other criminals, I guess your not bad Enour to rob those types who carry guns themselves so you come over to the side of town where most people work honestly for a living I'm so sick of it I wish someone would start shooting the young black men vigilante style!!!!!!!

Why wasn't the names of the people arrested at Shady's listed in the article? Was it because of Mommie and Daddy's standing in the community? Come on Advocate if you are going to release the name of some people you should do it for all regardless of social standing. Black people should be screaming for equal treatment on this one. I wonder how many Judges and high profile parents owned these heathens?
