Police arrest suspect in Plaquemine fatal shooting Police arrest suspect in Plaquemine fatal shooting Advocate staff report Nov. 20, 2012 Comments PLAQUEMINE — Police investigated a fatal shooting Wednesday afternoon that the alleged shooter claimed was a case of self-defense during a drug dispute, a spokesman said. Police were called to 58853 Allen St. around 1 p.m., Plaquemine Police Capt. Kenny Payne said. Officers found Wilbert Myles, 17, 23720 Cypress St., suffering from gunshot wounds, Payne said. Myles was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, where he later died, Payne said. Cordias Walker, 22, 58853 Allen St., called 911 after Myles was shot and surrendered to authorities when they arrived, Payne said. Walker told police he shot Myles in self-defense over an apparent drug dispute, Payne said. However, Payne said, no other evidence at the scene suggested it was a self-defense killing. “We have no other weapon,” Payne said, noting that police found only one gun in Walker’s possession. Walker was booked into the Iberville Parish Jail on a count of second-degree murder, Payne said.
