Nov 15, 2012 00:52 Police identify man killed in Wyandotte Street shooting Police identify man killed in Wyandotte Street shooting Ryan Broussard| Advocate staff writer Nov. 15, 2012 Comments The Baton Rouge man killed in a home invasion Tuesday night had plans to take his two children to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., on Thursday morning, a family member said. Derrick Marioneaux’s aunt, Claudia White, 48, of Lake Charles, said he was an easygoing man who loved his children, a 13-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy. White said Marioneaux had brought stability to his life after encountering difficult times as a young man and worked as a painter to make a better life for his children. His aunt said he was a typical boy who loved horsing around and brightening family members’ days with his playful nature. “The first time he ever started school, he had been in school for two or three days (when) he came home with a 1-2-3 book and he told my momma (his grandmother), “ ‘Guess what, I wrote a book today,’ ” White said, with a smile as she remembered the day. Marioneaux, 34, was shot at 6:33 p.m. after several people forced their way into his home at 3184 Wyandotte St., Baton Rouge police Cpl. Tommy Stubbs said. “He was just an ordinary, everyday young man, that they really didn’t have to do that to because he would have given you anything he had,” White said. Another man was shot and injured in the incident, Stubbs said. The man was taken to a hospital with moderate injuries. No arrests have been made and no suspects have been named in the shooting, Stubbs said. A motive also has not been determined.
