Mathieu, Jefferson, Bryant released from prison

Three of the four former LSU football players arrested Thursday on several drug-related counts in Baton Rouge were released from East Baton Rouge Parish Prison early Friday.

Former Heisman trophy finalist and All-American cornerback Tyrann Mathieu and former LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson each posted a $500 bond and were released early Friday, Parish Prison records show.

Derrick Bryant, a backup safety for LSU from 2008-11, posted a $9,000 bond and was released around the same time, the records show.

Karnell Hatcher, a linebacker and safety for LSU from 2008-11, was still in jail as of Friday afternoon. His bond is $3,000.

The former football players were arrested Thursday after 10 bags containing 18 grams of “high-grade marijuana,” a marijuana grinder and a digital scale were found inside Mathieu’s apartment, Baton Rouge police have said.

Officers were called to Mathieu’s apartment on West State Street at 3:30 p.m. in reference to a complaint about a man who was trying to force his way into the complex through a security gate, police have said.

Before police arrived, the man, later identified as Jefferson, was confronted by a maintenance worker who had seen Jefferson on another occasion without a key card, police have said. Mathieu let Jefferson into the complex and the two were seen going into apartment

Mathieu, 20, 262 W. State St., and Jefferson, 22, 11959 Nicholson Drive, were booked on one count each of simple possession of marijuana, according to prison officials.

Hatcher, 22, Delray Beach, Fla., was booked on one count of second-offense simple
possession of marijuana and Bryant, 22, 11959 Nicholson, was booked on one count each of possession with intent to distribute marijuana and
possession of drug paraphernalia.
