2 shot in parking lot of daiquiri shop
Baton Rouge police are investigating the shootings of two men, both age 24, early Thursday in the parking lot of a daiquiri shop on North Sherwood Forest Boulevard.
Police were called to the 1300 block of North Sherwood Forest Boulevard at 1:47 a.m. to investigate a report of a man who had been shot and was lying in the road, police spokeswoman Capt. Joan Cage said.
When officers arrived, they found a man who was shot multiple times in the leg, Cage said.
Officers found another man, who had been shot once in the head, nearby on East Black Oak Drive, Cage said.
Detectives later discovered that both men were shot in the parking lot of Sherwood Forest Daiquiri, 1654 N. Sherwood Forest Blvd., Cage said.
Police Lt. Don Kelly said the shooting occurred during an argument that led to gunfire. No arrests have been made or suspects named, he said.

Firefighters revive dog at apartment fire
Firefighters revived a dog suffering from smoke inhalation Wednesday during a fire at an apartment complex on Ridge Oak Drive in Baton Rouge.
Firefighters with the St. George Fire Protection District were called to 9135 Ridge Oak Drive just before 7:30 p.m. to find one of six apartments on fire, district spokesman Eldon Ledoux said.
The fire caused major damage to the two-story apartment, Ledoux said. Smoke and water caused minor to moderate damage to three other units, he said.
No one was injured in the blaze, Ledoux said.
Traffic stop leads
to unrelated arrest
An unrelated traffic stop Wednesday night resulted in Baton Rouge police booking a man wanted in an attempted murder, an affidavit of probable cause says.
According to the affidavit, a police officer had stopped a car in the 12000 block of La Margie Avenue when he heard “excessive loud music” coming from a nearby vehicle.
The officer walked over to the other driver’s door and asked the suspect to roll down the window and turn down the music, the affidavit says. Instead, the suspect opened the door and tossed something — under the car, the affidavit says.
A detective arrived and helped the officer move the suspect’s car, where they found 0.58 grams of cocaine, the affidavit says.
A warrant search showed that the suspect was wanted on counts of attempted second-degree murder and aggravated criminal damage to property after he allegedly rammed his car into his ex-girlfriend’s car on an exit ramp after exiting Interstate 110 on July 19, the affidavit says.
A witness told police they saw a gold car, allegedly driven by the suspect, hit a red car repeatedly, causing it to flip off the North 22nd Street exit ramp, and then saw the suspect run away without helping the driver of the red car, the affidavit says.
Police booked Craig Tate, 31, 6642 Cambridge St., Baton Rouge, into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count each of attempted second-degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property and possession of Schedule I narcotics.
Woman, 35, accused of stabbing son, 15
East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies booked a woman accused of stabbing her son in the shoulder with a kitchen knife during an argument Wednesday night, an affidavit of probable cause says.
The suspect said her son, 15, did not come directly home from school and she confronted him when he finally did come home, the affidavit says.
The suspect told deputies she stabbed her son after he pushed her into the kitchen counter when she tried whipping him with a belt, the affidavit says.
The suspect’s son told deputies that he grabbed an extension cord she tried to hit him with and she grabbed the knife because she thought he was going to hurt her, the affidavit says.
The suspect’s son denied hitting or threatening to hit her and his wound is not considered life-threatening, the affidavit says.
Deputies booked Deidra Celestine, 35, 627 Fountain View Drive, Baton Rouge, into Parish Prison on one count each of cruelty to juveniles, aggravated battery and domestic abuse battery.
Authorities arrest 4 on DWI suspicion
Authorities arrested at least four people suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish and booked them into Parish Prison between 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and 2:30 p.m. Thursday, booking records show.
Those booked and the counts against them:
- Brad Gautreau, 34, 130 Miami Place, Kenner, second-offense DWI and failure to maintain control.
- Laken Lemoine, 23, 3829 Southpass Road, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, disobeying a red light and improper lane usage.
- Emmitt Scott, 44, 4380 Mohican-Prescott Crossover, Baton Rouge, first-offense DWI, reckless operation of a vehicle and failure to maintain control.
- Timothy White, 25, 212 Park Ave., Dover, Minn., first-offense DWI, improper lane usage and open container violation.
