Police release sketch
of suspect in rape
Baton Rouge Police have released a sketch of a man suspected in the Monday afternoon kidnapping of a woman who was forced into a van, driven to a wooded area and raped.
The 20-year-old woman told police she was approached by a man in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the area of Brightside Drive and Nicholson Drive around 2 p.m., police have said. The woman said the man put an object to her back that she believed was a gun and then took her to a nearby parked van, forcing her inside.
The woman said the man drove her to a nearby wooded area, raped her, drove her back to the apartment complex and let her out, police have said.
The woman described the man as white, age 30 to 35, of average height and weight, with bushy hair and a brown mustache, police have said. He was driving a white work van and wearing a blue work jumpsuit and a baseball cap, police have said.

BR man, 35, killed
in motorcycle crash
A 35-year-old Baton Rouge man died Tuesday in a motorcycle accident on River Road near Highland Road, a State Police spokesman said.
Kevin Thibodeaux was riding a Suzuki motorcycle just before 9 p.m. on River Road when he ran off the road while trying to maneuver a left-hand curve, Trooper Russell Graham II said.
Thibodeaux’s motorcycle slid across a concrete driveway and hit a curb, Graham said. Thibodeaux suffered fatal injuries in the crash and died at the scene.
Investigators do not suspect Thibodeaux was impaired.
LaPlace man booked in rape of young girl
A LaPlace man accused of raping a girl under age 12 between 2003 and 2005 was arrested Tuesday and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, court documents show.
Dievetrick Vary, 26, 134 James Court, is accused of raping the girl more than once at a home on Glen Oaks Drive, an arrest warrant says.
Vary was booked on one count each of aggravated rape and indecent behavior with a juvenile.
Authorities book one on suspicion of DWI
Authorities arrested at least one person suspected of driving while intoxicated in East Baton Rouge Parish between 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, booking records show.
Michael Wink, 52, 18204 Fountain Hill Blvd., Prairieville, was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on a count of first-offense DWI.
