Man arrested in Addis killing

ADDIS — West Baton Rouge Parish deputies arrested a man Friday afternoon in the fatal shooting of a teenage boy during a dispute over an alleged burglary attempt, sheriff’s Col. Richie Johnson said.

Johnson said Lucien Thompson, 22, 57748 Grove Road, Plaquemine, was arrested around 2 p.m. and booked into the Parish Jail on second-degree murder charges in the death of Tyreke Lemar, 15, a resident of the Riverboat Lane Mobile Home Park, 7021 La. 1 South, in Addis.

The shooting took place about noon Friday at the Riverbend Mobile Home Park, 7180 S. River Road, in Addis, Johnson said.

Although Thompson has a Plaquemine address, he was residing at the time of the shooting in a mobile home in the Riverbend trailer park, Johnson said.

The Riverboat Lane trailer park, where Lemar resided, is not far from the Riverbend trailer park, Johnson said.

Under questioning, Thompson confessed to shooting Lemar after the teenager, along with two other people, allegedly confronted him Friday afternoon, Johnson said.

Thompson told police he had informed neighbors that Lemar and the two other people had tried to burglarize his mobile home a week ago, Johnson said.

Johnson added that Lemar allegedly was confronting Thompson about the accusations at the time of the shooting in the Riverbend trailer park.
