Man booked with molesting girl, 14, behind Labadieville church

Assumption Parish sheriff’s deputies arrested a Labadieville man in the sexual assault Sunday of a 14-year-old girl behind a church holding services that both had been attending that day, the sheriff’s office reported Friday.

The teen’s mother caught the man, Travanti Williams, 23, 147 Violet St., involved in an inappropriate sexual act with her daughter and separated the two, deputies said.

Williams, whose home has a postal address for Thibodaux but is in Labadieville, fled from the scene but was booked Friday on a count of molestation of a juvenile after being arrested Thursday on unrelated counts, deputies said.

Those counts are simple criminal damage to property less than $500, unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, simple battery and failure to appear for simple battery charge, deputies said.

Williams’ bail was still pending late Friday, Sheriff Mike Waguespack said.

The victim told investigators that after she went outside New Belmont Baptist Church, 3037 La. 1, Labadieville, Williams approached her and led her to a secluded area behind the church, deputies said.

Williams put the girl in a bear hug and tried to assault her, but the girl’s mother broke it up, deputies said.

The girl told investigators Williams had made sexual advances toward her before, deputies said.

The girl was released after she underwent a medical evaluation, deputies said.

I agree tradewinns. Moma needs to reign her in. Williams is the one that needs neutering.

while there is no excuse for his actions, there's no excuse for her's either! he's made sexual advances before and she still allows him to lead her to a secluded area? better neuter her before she gets pregnant, it's only a matter of when not if.
