Livingston deputies investigate drowning incident

Livingston Parish sheriff’s deputies were called to investigate a Saturday afternoon drowning incident at a house on Brown Road near Juban Road, a sheriff’s spokeswoman said.

The victim, William Gros, 44, had been swimming in his pool with his wife and daughter at their 13451 Brown Road home, spokeswoman Lori Steele said.

When Gros’ wife and daughter went inside the house to dry off before leaving on an errand, Gros stayed behind to clean the pool with a skimmer, Steele said.

When the wife and daughter went back outside to say goodbye to Gros, they found him unconscious in the pool, Steele said.

Authorities believe health-related issues may have caused the death, Steele said. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor, she said.

The Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office also was investigating the death, Steele said.
